was born in Fécamp close to the cliffs of Étretat and studied piano in the class of Jeannine Bonjean at the Normal School of Music in Paris.
He worked in conducting with Jean-Pierre Loré and Pierre Dervaux and was artistic director of several festivals: Les Boffilies in Paris, Magnificat in Paray-le-Monial, Musique en Pays de Caux… He met Jacques Loussier in the years 90 which gave him a taste for music without borders and without blinkers.
After creating Bonsoir Paris Jazz in 2010, he worked in jazz and composition with Louis Nicolas Morançon. He created the Denis Gancel Quartet in 2015 which performs in festivals in France and at the Sunside, at the Studio de l'Ermitage, at the Bal Blomet in Paris. He released his first album "Miscellanées" in early 2017 followed by "Bric à Brac" in 2019, Puzzle in 2021, Méli-Mélo in 2022. On the program for 2023 a new album: MicMac live at Sunside to be released in May, a tour at Japan and the creation of the Cantata “The Pilgrims of Emmaus”
